Sally and her boyfriend John arrived at their local coffee shop craving their usual orders of an iced matcha and hot mocha. Once their drinks arrived, they walked hand in hand to their table to work on their current writing works. Their fingers quickly landed on the keyboards as ideas came rushing into their heads like tidal waves. Once in a while, they looked up and smiled at each other like they were the only two people in the world.
“How’s the fan fiction coming?” Sally asked.
“It’s coming along swimmingly!” John exclaimed proudly. “I think Superman would be proud.”
Sally laughed and grinned. “I have every confidence in you.
“Thanks, babe.” “How’s the book coming?” John responded.
“It’s coming,” she said. “I just don’t know how Riley will respond.”
The book Sally was working on documented her journey of being brutally heartbroken by her ex-boyfriend Riley. Writing was therapeutic for her as she was able to pour out her pain and comeback from the hellish experience.
“I just hope people will feel comforted, you know?” “I don’t want to publicly shame him though.”
“I’m sure it’ll be an eye opener,” John assured her. “I’m so proud of you for being brave enough to share your story. I know it’s not easy.”
Sally took his hand, and they shared a kiss.
“How did I get so blessed?” Sally asked with a loving gaze.
All was right in the world. Sally and John were happily in love and devoted to one another. For the first time, Sally learned what true love is. She hadn’t smiled this frequently. John was truly a good man.
Just then, Sally was met with cold, soulless blue eyes. She studied her ex-boyfriend intently, noticing no improvement since the breakup.
“Well you haven’t changed.”
“We need to talk,” Riley said with a stern tone and a manipulative gaze.
“There is absolutely nothing to talk about,” Sally responded coldly, taking John’s hand.
“I want you back, Sally. I made a huge mistake of letting you go.”
“You only want her back to regain power over her!” John exclaimed. “Leave her alone!”
“Was I talking to you, you idiot? You’re toxic for her anyways. Be with me, Sally. I can treat you better.”
“As if,” she scoffed. “I wanted you back, but now, I want you out of my life for good.”
“As if,” Riley parroted. “You can’t get rid of me that easily.”
Suddenly, John rose from his chair and stared Riley straight in the eye.
“You were an idiot to let her go. Sally is the most amazing girl I’ve ever met. Sure, she’s not perfect, but she’s full of incredible and attractive qualities. You don’t deserve her or her love. She’s moved on and so should you,” John proclaimed boldly.
“Fine, fine, fine!” Riley whimpered.
He sprinted away from the coffee shop with shame and fear following him.
“That was so odd. He’s the one who broke up with me after claiming I was the problem. Now he wants me back,” Sally chuckled.
John and Sally let out roaring belly laughs.
“He was stupid to let you go and try and get you back, but don’t you worry. I’m taking care of you from now on.” John assured her.
Together, they walked out of the shop with arms around each other’s shoulders knowing they were each other’s futures.
‘This is forever,’ Sally thought to herself.
